ATLANTA – State Representative Dewey McClain (D-Lawrenceville), chair of the Gwinnett House Legislative Delegation, touts the delegation’s bipartisan local legislation to create a property tax exemption for Gwinnett County residents. Last week, the Georgia House of Representatives passed two local tax exemption bills, House Bill 711 and House Bill 748, which will now undergo consideration in the Senate.

Working Families Legislative Caucus Praises BCTGM Members’ Efforts to Improve Working Conditions at Kellogg’s Facilities

ATLANTA – Members of the Georgia Working Families Legislative Caucus leadership praise the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers (BCTGM) International Union for their efforts to improve working conditions at Kellogg’s facilities across the country. The BCTGM members who work at several Kellogg’s facilities recently voted to accept the recommended collective bargaining agreement, which ends a nearly three-month long strike.

Gwinnett Area State Legislators Commend Local Passage of CROWN Act

ATLANTA – State Representatives Donna McLeod (D-Lawrenceville), Jasmine Clark (D-Lilburn), Dewey McClain (D-Lawrenceville), Shelly Hutchinson (D-Snellville), Karen Bennett (D-Stone Mountain), Dar’shun Kendrick (D-Lithonia), Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) and State Senator Nikki Merritt (D-Grayson) commend the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners (BOC) on the local passage of the Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair (CROWN) Act. These legislators will also hold a press conference to discuss the CROWN Act on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at 1 p.m. in conference room C at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville (75 Langley Drive).
