Reps. Michelle Au, Mary Margaret Oliver Introduce Legislation to Address Gun Safety, Violence

ATLANTA – State Representatives Michelle Au (D-Johns Creek) and Mary Margaret Oliver (D-Decatur) recently introduced a legislative package to enhance gun safety and reduce gun violence. Major provisions of House bills 44 and 45 include implementing background checks and a three-day waiting period to purchase firearms. House bills 135 and 161 would require firearms to be stored securely around minors, as well as establish personal responsibility for gun owners if their firearm is used to commit a crime.

Speaker David Ralston Announces Major Mental Health Reform Legislation

Bipartisan House Bill 1013 Filed Today

ATLANTA – Today, Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) announced he has filed House Bill 1013, a comprehensive bill to reform Georgia’s mental health care delivery system and improve client outcomes. The bill is a bipartisan measure sponsored by Speaker Ralston and signed by members of leadership from both political parties including Majority Leader Jon Burns (R-Newington) and Minority Leader James Beverly (D-Macon).
