Rep. Jay Powell Honored as “Legislator of the Year” By Georgia Retail Association

ATLANTA— State Representative Jay Powell (R-Camilla) was named as the 2010 “Legislator of the Year” by the Georgia Retail Association (GRA).  Rep. Powell received the honor for his work on House Bill 1082, which was designed to allow local governments in Georgia to decide if they wanted to provide inventory tax relief to businesses within their limits. Rep. Harbin to Receive Legislative Service Award

ATLANTA – State Representative Ben Harbin (R-Evans) will receive the 2010 Legislative Service Award from the Association of County Commissioners (ACCG) on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 6:00 PM at the Evans Government Complex.  Rep. Special Council on Tax Reform and Fairness for Georgians to Hold Public Meeting

ATLANTA- The Special Council on Tax Reform and Fairness for Georgians will hold a public meeting Thursday, August 26th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  Interested parties are invited to attend this meeting anytime during the three hour session to voice their concerns pertaining to Georgia’s tax system.  The Tax Council will hold numerous public hearings throughout the state so that all Georgians have the opportunity to participate. Rep. Pruett Recognized For Legislative Leadership

ATLANTA – State Representative Jimmy Pruett (R-Eastman) was recognized for his legislative leadership on House Bill 1040 by the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) at their “Making A Difference Annual Appreciation Dinner” on Thursday, July 15, 2010.  HB 1040 was introduced by Rep. Pruett during the 2010 legislative session in an effort to improve access to home-based care for Georgians with disabilities. (more…)
