Rep. Peake Introduces Legislation Allowing Non-partisan Elections of Local Officials

ATLANTA—State Representative Allen Peake (R-Macon) recently pre-filed House Bill 682, which would allow counties to petition their local legislative delegation to make the office of county commissioner, along with other county-wide elected offices, non-partisan. Currently, the only counties where state law allows the offices of the county governing authority to be nonpartisan are Georgia’s seven consolidated governments. Continue reading “Rep. ATLANTA – State Representative Lynne Riley (R- Johns Creek) recently joined hundreds of policymakers and leaders from 49 states and the District of Columbia in Phoenix, AZ for the American Legislative Exchange Council’s (ALEC) annual States & Nation Policy Summit. Rep. Penny Houston Recognized as Outstanding State Legislator for 2011 by the Georgia Council on Aging

ATLANTA – State Representative Penny Houston (R-Nashville) recently received the Outstanding State Legislator for 2011 Award from the Georgia Council on Aging (GCOA). The Council awarded Rep. Houston, who chairs the House Appropriations Sub-committees on Human Resources, in recognition of her support for aging services funding and her fight to restore funding for respite care, Meals on Wheels, and vision services.
