UPDATE: District 60 Job Fair Moved to June 15th

ATLANTA – State Representative Keisha Waites (D-Atlanta) announced today that the District 60 Regional Job Fair will now be held on Friday, June 15th, rather than Friday, May 11, as was previously announced. This change in date is due to the overwhelming response Rep. Waites has received from employer wanting to participate as venders at the job fair. Rep. Morgan Announces the Establishment of the Morgan Family Scholarship

ATLANTA – State Representative Alisha Thomas Morgan (D-Austell) today announced the establishment of the Morgan Family Scholarship, a higher education scholarship program that is designed to aid young people in the South Cobb County community who attend Pebblebrook High School and South Cobb High Schools. House Budget Initiative Helps Improve Access to Farm Labor

ATLANTA – House Appropriations Committee Chairman Terry England (R-Auburn) announced today that the Georgia Department of Agriculture has hired two farm labor specialists who are already on the job and working with farmers to employ legal farm labor through the H-2a and H-1b federal temporary employment programs. These specialists were hired using $75,000 in funding that the House added to the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s budget in the Fiscal Year 2012 amended budget. Rep. Ann Purcell’s Legislation Makes Way through General Assembly, Heads to Governor

ATLANTA – State Representative Ann Purcell (R-Rincon) commented today on the General Assembly’s passage of House Bill 685, which passed the state Senate earlier last week with a vote of 50 to1 and received final passage on Thursday, March 29, in the state House with a vote of 157 to 0, showing broad bipartisan support for the measure. Sponsored by State Representative Gene Maddox (R-Cairo), HB 685 not only clarifies state law regarding dangerous and vicious dogs in Georgia, but it also includes a measure that was originally co-sponsored by Rep.
