Rep. Jay Roberts Travels to Panama for Tour and Briefing on Panama Canal Expansion
ATLANTA – State Representative Jay Roberts (R-Ocilla), chair of the Georgia House Transportation Committee, recently traveled with six fellow state transportation leaders from five other Southern states to Panama for high-level briefings on the Panama Canal expansion project. The agenda allowed the delegation to learn more about the need for Southern ports to continue essential infrastructure enhancements that will be necessary to accommodate the significantly larger vessels and expanded cargo volumes expected to arrive after the completion of the Panama Canal expansion. Two State Legislative Caucuses Call for Full Restoration of Unemployment Insurance
ATLANTA – Elected officials from both the Georgia Working Families Legislative Caucus and the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus held a press conference on Friday, September 14, 2012, calling on Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler to comply with the United States Department of Labor’s ruling on unemployment benefits by restoring the unemployment benefits for thousands of private sector workers in the state of Georgia.
