Representative Kidd Criticizes Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities for Unfair Treatment of Employees

ATLANTA – During discussion on House Bill 1324, state Representative Rusty Kidd (I-Milledgeville) criticized the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities for their unfair treatment of employees at Central State Hospital in Milledgeville.  Representative Kidd was so outraged by recent layoffs that he actually stood in his wheelchair to exclaim the layoffs were inappropriate and wrong.

“The employees at Central State Hospital are passionate workers who truly care about their patients,” said Representative Kidd.  “I am appalled to see the department treat these fine folks with such disrespect.”

The Milledgeville adult mental health unit will close on April 15, causing the termination of approximately 200 positions.
