Rep. Bob Bryant Releases Statement on Annexation into Garden City

ATLANTA –State Representative Bob Bryant (D-Garden City) today released the following statement regarding Garden City’s annexation of Southbridge:

“Garden City’s attempt to annex Southbridge failed twice in the past year. Those failures made it clear that this issue requires more time for open discussion and deliberation. Therefore, I will re-introduce legislation during the 2012 legislative session that will finally give voters an opportunity to voice their views on the annexation of Southbridge by Garden City. The legislation will include a duel referendum that would permit a separate vote by both communities’ residents to decide on annexation into Garden City. This will ensure that both Southbridge and Garden City have the opportunity to decide this issue for themselves. By waiting one year to introduce this legislation, I hope that voters in both communities will have plenty of time to weigh the merits of annexation and make an informed decision.”
