Representative Lynn Smith Named One of 2011’s House Heroes

ATLANTA – The May/June 2011 edition of James Magazine named State Representative Lynn Smith (R-Newnan) as a “House Hero.” Recognizing that the names of hard-working, effective state representatives “often get lost in the shuffle when so many important issues are at stake,” the political magazine chose to name those state representatives and senators that it believes earned a place among Georgia’s “Senate Stars and House Heroes.”

“I am greatly humbled and honored to receive this recognition from James Magazine,” said Rep. Smith. “Along with my fellow legislators, we have passed several landmark bills that leave no doubt in anyone’s mind that our state is a good steward of our water, our environment, and our economy. Even more than this recognition, however, it is a privilege and honor to be the state representative for the great people of my district.”

Rep. Smith, Chairman of the House Natural Resources & Environment Committee, was recognized as a House Hero because, says the magazine, “she is pragmatic and balanced in her judgment and doesn’t bluster or hold grudges.”

James Magazine is widely considered one of the state’s top resources for Georgia political news and issues. The 2011 listing of Senate Stars and House Heroes also includes House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle (R-Gainesville), and House Majority Caucus Vice Chairman Matt Ramsey (R-Peachtree City).

Representative Lynn Smith represents the citizens of District 70, which includes portions of Coweta and Heard counties. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 1996, and is currently the Chairman of the Natural Resources & Environment Committee. She also serves on the Appropriations, Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment, and Rules committees. For more information about Rep.
