Speaker David Ralston Commends the Nomination of Rep. Tim Bearden to the Position of GPSTC Director

ATLANTA – House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) issued the following statement today regarding State Representative Tim Bearden’s (R-Villa Rica) appointment as Director of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) by Governor Nathan Deal:

“I commend the nomination of Chairman Tim Bearden as Director of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center by Governor Deal. Chairman Bearden served the citizens of Carroll and Douglas counties with extraordinary dedication for the past seven years in the Georgia House of Representatives. During that time I, along with the rest of the General Assembly, recognized him as a strong and effective conservative leader. As a former police officer, Chairman Bearden acted as a special champion of our public safety employees and repeatedly proved that he has the right kind of experience for this important position.

“The House’s loss will be the State of Georgia’s gain. Tim Bearden has been a close and constant ally and I will miss his leadership in the House very much. I will continue to value his friendship and look forward to supporting him in this next challenge of his public service.”
