Rep. Chuck Williams Appointed Subcommittee Chair

ATLANTA – State Representative Steve Davis (R-McDonough), chairman of the House Information & Audits Committee, recently appointed State Representative Chuck Williams (R-Watkinsville) as chairman of the Information and Audits Subcommittee on Higher Education.

“The Information and Audits Committee performs a very important function, serving as the House of Representatives’ eyes and ears in its mission of providing state government oversight and ensuring taxpayer dollars are not wasted on bloated bureaucratic administration,” said Rep. Williams. “Considering the importance of higher education to Athens-Clarke County, I am especially honored to take control of this vital subcommittee and begin working to ensure that the University System and the Technical College System is run in an efficient and professional manner.”

The Information and Audits Committee maintains administrative oversight over the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts and is responsible for maintaining House Journals. The Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts audits the administration of state, county, and city governments.

“Representative Williams’ dedication and commitment to this great state will make him an outstanding leader in the Information and Audits Committee. That is why I have asked him to serve as the chair of the Higher Education Subcommittee,” said Chairman Davis.
