ATLANTA – State Representative Steve Davis (R-McDonough) announced today that Henry County will receive a total of $1,697,015 from the Georgia Department of Transportation’s (GDOT) 2013 Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) program.
“I am proud to announce that Henry County has been awarded this LMIG program money,” said Rep. Davis. “These funds will help us address some of the most needed repairs to our roadways.”
Of the $1,697,015 that Henry County is set to receive, $153,933 will go to the City of Stockbridge, $139,546 will go to the city of McDonough, and the remaining $1,403,536 be used to maintain transportation systems throughout the remainder of Henry County.
The LMIG is a grant program administered by GDOT which works to achieve improvements to the state’s roadway network. According to GDOT, projects that are eligible for LMIG include: preliminary engineering; utility adjustments or replacement; patching, leveling or resurfacing paved roadways; grading, drainage, base and paving on existing or new roads; replacing storm drain pipe or culverts; intersection improvements; turn lanes; bridge repair or replacement; sidewalk adjacent to a public roadway or street; roadway signs; striping; guardrail installation; signal installation or improvement; and aggregate surface course for dirt road maintenance.
