Rep. Carter Appointed to Fiscal Affairs Subcommittee

ATLANTA – State Representative Amy Carter (R-Valdosta) was recently appointed to the Joint Fiscal Affairs Subcommittee by Governor Nathan Deal pursuant to O.C.G.A 28-5-21. This subcommittee is responsible for approving changes in agency funding after the General Assembly has adjourned for the year. The subcommittee also advises the Governor on budget changes.

“I am honored Governor Deal appointed me to the Fiscal Affairs Subcommittee,” said Rep. Carter. “As we continue to face budgetary challenges, I will work with the other Fiscal Affairs Subcommittee members and state agencies to find the best way to make the most of our limited resources.”

The Joint Fiscal Affairs Subcommittee is comprised of ten state representatives and ten senators. Five representatives and five senators are appointed by the Governor. The Speaker of the House appoints the remaining five representatives and the Lt. Governor appoints the other five senators. The Speaker of the House and Lt. Governor alternate as chairman of the subcommittee each year.

Representative Amy Carter represents the citizens of District 175, which includes portions of Brooks, Lowndes, and Thomas counties. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 2006, and is currently Chairman of the Governmental Affairs Committee, Secretary of the Appropriations Committee, and Secretary of the Higher Education Committee. She also serves on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Education, and Small Business Development committees.
