Rep. Edward Lindsey Chosen as Georgia Chamber of Commerce House Legislator of the Year

ATLANTA— State Representative Edward Lindsey (R-Atlanta) yesterday was chosen by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce to be their 2013 House Legislator of the Year.

“I am honored to receive this award from the Georgia Chamber of Commerce,” said Rep. Lindsey. “The Georgia Chamber is a tireless advocate for Georgia’s businesses, and I am proud to work with the entity that works diligently to bring jobs to our state.”

Rep. Lindsey received The Georgia Chamber’s House Legislator of the Year award for his continued leadership to make Georgia a desirable place for businesses to locate. Among Rep. Lindsey’s legislative successes this past session were HB 361 and SB 179. Both bills reaffirmed Georgia’s commitment to being a right-to-work state, a critical element businesses use in their decision to either locate in Georgia or expand current operations already present in the state.

“As a business community, we cannot expect to grow and compete with other states and global markets without elected officials who are actively working to pass pro-business legislation,” said Steve Green, the Chamber’s 2013 Board Chair. “Representative Lindsey continues to be a strong advocate for Georgia business and economic development, and we are grateful for his ongoing commitment to providing his support in the state House of Representatives.”

The Georgia Chamber of Commerce is Georgia’s largest business advocacy organization. It is focused is on keeping, growing and creating new jobs throughout the state of Georgia. The organization has an aggressive, proactive approach to state policy issues, and it transcends regional boundaries to create a state-wide network of business leaders working to help Georgia’s economy thrive.

Representative Edward Lindsey represents the citizens of District 54, which includes portions of Fulton County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2004, and currently serves on the Appropriations, Education, Ethics, Industry and Labor, Judiciary, and Rules committees.
