Rep. Bruce Williamson Named 2013 Technology Legislator of the Year by TAG

ATLANTA – State Representative Bruce Williamson (R-Monroe) was awarded Tuesday evening with the 2013 Technology Legislator of the Year Award by the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG). TAG is dedicated to the promotion and economic advancement of Georgia’s technology industry.

“Having been an entrepreneur, business owner and investor for many years, I understand the importance of small businesses being able to access capital for business growth,” said Rep. Williamson. “As this industry matures, it is vital that funding mechanisms are in place to ensure sustainability and job creation.”

The award is given annually to lawmakers who demonstrate superior support and understanding of Georgia’s technology issues and industry. The award was presented Tuesday evening before a crowd of technology leaders and stakeholders at a TAG event held at Deloitte’s Atlanta offices.

“Representative Williamson has been an ardent supporter of the technology industry during his tenure in the state legislature,” said Tino Mantella, president and CEO of TAG. “TAG is appreciative of his efforts to advance the Invest Georgia legislation and the renewal of the Angel Investor Tax Credit Extension.”

The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) serves more than 19,500 members and hosts over 200 events each year.

TAG serves as an umbrella organization for 32 industry societies, each of which provides rich content for TAG constituents.
