House Speaker David Ralston Appoints Members to Career and Technical Education Advisory Commission

ATLANTA- House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) today announced the following appointments to the Career and Technical Education Advisory Commission:

• State Representative Tom Dickson (R-Cohutta), Co-Chair
• State Representative Amy Carter (R-Valdosta)
• State Representative Randy Nix (R-LaGrange)
• State Representative Rick Jasperse (R-Jasper)

The Career and Technical Education Advisory Commission is tasked with reviewing the conditions, needs and issues facing the state’s career and technical education program. They are also charged with issuing an annual report to the General Assembly about any legislative actions the commission deems necessary. The commission was reestablished by SB 100 in the 2013 legislative session after standing repealed as of December 31, 2012.

The fourteen person commission is made up of four members of the House of Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House and four members of the state Senate appointed by the Lieutenant Governor. The commission also includes three members who are not members of the General Assembly appointed by the Governor, and three members who are not members of the General Assembly appointed by the State School Superintendent.

Commission co-chairs are appointed by the Speaker of the House and the Lieutenant Governor. Both legislative and non-legislative members of the commission serve two year terms concurrent with those of members of the General Assembly.
