Rep. Katie Dempsey Receives The David Levine Legislative Award
ATLANTA – State Representative Katie Dempsey (R-Rome) received The David Levine Legislative Award presented by members of the Georgia Council on Aging from the Georgia Gerontology Society, Inc.
“I am truly honored to receive The David Levine Legislative Award,” said Rep. Dempsey. “I am thankful for this recognition by the Georgia Gerontology Society and the Georgia Council on Aging for my work with Georgia’s older adults, appropriations, and Georgia’s Family Care Act.”
The David Levine Legislative Award, established in 1993, is given to the legislator who has sponsored or co-sponsored legislation that would improve the quality of life for older adults. The recipient of the award has also shown consistent support on aging issues, and has been willing to listen to the concerns of Georgia’s elderly. This award has recently been named to honor Dr. David L. Levine, who devoted his adult life advocating for those who could not advocate for themselves.
Founded in 1955, the Georgia Gerontology Society, Inc. strives to promote quality leadership in aging for the benefit of older Georgians and their families. This organization also provides opportunities for members to participate in networking, professional development and training, advocacy and sponsorship of student scholarships.
