ATLANTA— State Representative Darlene Taylor (R-Thomasville) today commented on her recent appointment by Speaker Ralston to the Joint Study Committee on Violence Against Health Care Workers.
“I would like to thank Speaker Ralston for his confidence in appointing me to this study committee,” said Rep. Taylor. “Healthcare workers are dedicated individuals who help each of us maintain a healthy lifestyle, and it is important that, in turn, we work to ensure their safety in the work environment. I look forward to working with my House and Senate colleagues as we study this issue.”
The Joint Study Committee on Violence Against Health Care Workers was created by SR 981 during the 2014 legislative session. The committee will study the conditions, needs, issues, and problems healthcare workers and emergency department personnel face when violence is committed. They will then recommend any action or legislation.
The study committee is co-chaired by Representative Katie Dempsey and Senator Renee Unterman, who will call and schedule the committee meetings. Other members of this committee include: Senator Gloria Butler, Representative Robert Dickey, and Senator Butch Miller.

Representative Darlene Taylor represents the citizens of District 173, which includes portions of Decatur, Grady, and Thomas counties. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 2010, and currently serves as the Vice Chairman on the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee, and the Secretary on the Governmental Affairs Committee. She also serves on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Appropriations, and Insurance committees.
