More than 200 Job Seekers Attend Rep. Valencia Stovall’s 2nd Annual Career and Job Fair

ATLANTA— State Representative Valencia Stovall (D-Lake City) hosted the 2nd Annual Career and Job Fair on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Paradise Gymnasium & Cultural Center in Forest Park.

“This event was a huge success, thanks to support from Sisters In Action, Inc., Paradise Community Development Corporation and the Georgia Department of Labor. The large number of participating employers is evidence that the economy is turning around for the better,” said Rep. Stovall. “My office received overwhelmingly positive feedback and requests for future career-job fairs in this area. Working together, our goal is to continually decrease the unemployment rate in Clayton and surrounding counties.”

More than 200 job seekers and 40 employers participated in the job fair. Agencies in attendance included: Apollo Staffing, Atlanta Police Department, Atlanta Technical College, Automation Personnel, Avon Products, Bright From The Start, Ga DECAL, Clayton County Government, Clayton Career Resource Center, Clayton County Public Schools, CCPS Nutrition Department, CCPS Transportation Department, DeKalb County Fire Rescue, Entrepreneur College, Express Employment Professionals, Forest Park Police Department, Friends of Clayton Transit, FutureStaff, GA Vocational Rehabilitation, Georgia Department of Administrative Services, Georgia Department of Labor, Georgia Department of Public Safety, Georgia Department of Veteran Services, Georgia Power, Home Depot, LegalShield, Little Ones Day Care Center, Lowes, MARTA, MARTA Police, MULTI-Care Management Services, Pacific Institute of Technology/Pacific Systems, Penmac Staffing, PHP Agency, Pin Strikes, Precision Pre-Employment Services, Primerica Financial Services, Safe Link Wireless, Troy University-Atlanta, Walden Security, and Western Governors University.

Representative Valencia Stovall represents the citizens of District 74, which includes portions of Clayton County. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 2012, and currently serves on the Code Revision, Interstate Cooperation, and Small Business Development committees.
