ATLANTA – Georgia House Majority Whip Matt Ramsey (R-Peachtree City) today announced the appointment of a new Chief Deputy Whip, Rep. Dusty Hightower (R-Carrollton).
“I am honored to have been selected to serve as Chief Deputy Whip for the Majority Caucus Whip Team,” said Rep. Hightower. “Representative Ramsey has shown great faith in me by selecting me to serve as Chief Deputy Whip, and I pray that I am up for the task. This new opportunity will allow me to be a resource to my caucus and an advocate for strong conservative policy. I look forward to working on behalf of my constituents and the State of Georgia.”
Members of the majority whip team and the Chief Deputy, in particular, play a critical role by monitoring legislation as it moves through both chambers of the General Assembly and by helping members of the majority caucus to better understand the details of bills and resolutions.
“Dusty has proven himself to be a thorough and conscientious legislator that has quickly earned the respect of his House colleagues,” said Majority Whip Matt Ramsey. “His leadership and enthusiasm will be crucial to the effectiveness of the Majority Caucus for the 2015-16 legislative term. Representative Matt Ramsey represents the citizens of District 72, which includes portions of Coweta and Fayette counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2007, and currently serves as the House Majority Whip. He also serves on the Appropriations, Ethics, Higher Education, Judiciary Non-Civil, Regulated Industries, Rules, and Ways & Means committees.
Representative Dusty Hightower represents the citizens of District 68, which includes portions of Carroll and Douglas counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2012, and currently serves as the Secretary on the Judiciary Non-Civil Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations, Governmental Affairs, Public Safety and Homeland Security, and Special Rules committees.
