Rep. Amy Carter Named Chairman of House Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments recently named State Representative Amy Carter (R-Valdosta) as the Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government. Rep. Carter will also serve as a member on the Education, Higher Education, Governmental Affairs, Small Business Development, and Agriculture and Consumer Affairs committees.

“I would first like to thank Speaker Ralston and the Committee on Assignments for allowing me to serve in this leadership capacity and for placing their confidence and trust in me,” said Rep. Carter. “I hope the knowledge and experience that I gained from previously serving as the Chair of the Governmental Affairs Committee and as Secretary on the Appropriations Committee will help me as I transition to this new leadership role.”

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Amy Carter represents the citizens of District 175, which includes portions of Brooks, Lowndes, and Thomas counties. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 2006 and is currently the Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government. She also serves on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Education, Higher Education, Governmental Affairs, and the Small Business Development committees.
