ATLANTA – State Representative Kevin Tanner (R-Dawsonville) recently recognized four Lumpkin County High School students who were the top four finalists in a local art contest. Lane Tyson, Ashley Price, Larrenda Burch, and Sarah Wallace, students in the Drawing and Painting class at Lumpkin County High School, were each selected to have their artwork exhibited in Rep. Tanner’s office in the Coverdell Legislative Office Building (CLOB) and were also recognized with House Resolution 835.
“I applaud these students for their extraordinary talent, creativity and for their winning works of art, which I proudly displayed in my office here at the State Capitol,” said Rep. Tanner. “Fine arts allow our children to explore their creativity and craftsmanship at a young age. This is an extremely valuable educational tool.”
As a part of a local art contest in Lumpkin County, a committee of Fine Arts professionals from Lumpkin County chose several pieces of art to be exhibited in Rep. Tanner’s office. Several students in the Drawing and Painting class at Lumpkin County High School, taught by Julie Hogan, submitted paintings for consideration. The committee selected four finalists: Lane Tyson, Ashley Price, Larrenda Burch, and Sarah Wallace of Lumpkin County High School. The paintings are on loan and are displayed in Rep. Tanner’s office for visitors, constituents, staff, and others to enjoy.

Representative Kevin Tanner represents the citizens of District 9, which includes portions of Dawson, Forsyth, and Lumpkin counties. He was elected in 2012, and currently serves as the Secretary on the Intragovernmental Coordination Committee.
