Rep. Mandi Ballinger Named Vice Chairman of House Juvenile Justice Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Mandi Ballinger (R-Canton) as the Vice Chairman of the House Juvenile Justice Committee. Rep. Ballinger currently serves as a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety, as well as on the Information & Audits, Judiciary Non-Civil, and Transportation committees, and Secretary on the Budget & Fiscal Affairs Oversight Committee. Rep. Ballinger was also recently appointed as a member of the House Rules Committee.

“My sincerest thanks to Speaker Ralston and the Committee on Assignments for this appointment,” said Rep. Ballinger. “My experience as a Victim’s Advocate in the Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office will greatly assist me in dealing with legislation coming before this committee, and I look forward to working with Chairman Weldon on the important issues facing Georgia’s youth.”

The House Juvenile Justice Committee, chaired by Rep. Tom Weldon (R-Ringgold), serves as the judiciary committee over juvenile related issues. The House Rules Committee, chaired by Rep. John Meadows (R-Calhoun), oversees the flow of legislation from passage in committee to determination of what bills should be debated and voted on the House floor.

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Mandi L. Ballinger represents the citizens of District 23, which includes portions of Cherokee County. She was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2012, and currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Juvenile Justice Committee and the Secretary of the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight Committee. She also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety and the Information & Audits, Judiciary Non-Civil, Rules, and Transportation committees.
