Rep. John Deffenbaugh Named Vice Chairman of House Small Business Development Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative John Deffenbaugh (R-Lookout Mountain) as the Vice Chairman of the House Small Business Development Committee.  Rep. Deffenbaugh currently serves as a member of the Banks & Banking, Defense & Veterans Affairs, Regulated Industries, and Transportation committees.

“It has been an honor to serve District 1 for the past three years, and I look forward to my new assignment as Vice Chairman of the Small Business Committee to assist small business owners in my district and across the state of Georgia,” said Rep. Deffenbaugh. “Having been employed by a small business owner for almost 50 years, I am aware of the many challenges they face. Working with other members, together we can develop a climate conducive to attract new businesses to Dade and Walker Counties.”

The House Small Business Development Committee, chaired by Rep. Bubber Epps (R-Dry Branch), is tasked with drafting legislation that will enable the state’s small businesses to flourish and create more jobs.

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative John Deffenbaugh represents the citizens of District 1, which includes Dade County and a large portion of Walker County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2012, and currently serves as the Vice Chairman on the Small Business Development Committee. He also serves on the Banks and Banking, Defense & Veterans Affairs, Regulated Industries, and Transportation committees.
