Rep. Matt Hatchett Appointed to House Rules Committee, House Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments recently named State Representative Matt Hatchett (R-Dublin) as a member of the House Rules Committee and the House Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government Committee.  Additionally, Rep. Hatchett will continue to serve as a member of the Economic Development & Tourism, Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, Ethics, and Health & Human Services committees.

“I’m honored to be appointed to the House Rules Committee and moved to the Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government,” said Rep. Hatchett. “I’m thankful for the opportunity to play a larger role in the legislative process through the work of these two very powerful committees, and I thank Speaker Ralston and the members of the Committee on Assignments for the appointments.”

The House Rules Committee oversees the flow of legislation from passage in committee to making the determination of what bills should be debated and voted on the House floor.

“Serving on the Rules Committee will allow me to learn even more by working closely with Chairman Meadows and other experienced legislators,” continued Rep. Hatchett.

The House Appropriations Committee, chaired by Rep. Terry England (R-Auburn), is tasked with writing the legislation for the state’s fiscal year budget.

“Having previously served on the Public Safety and Health Appropriations Subcommittees, adding the General Government subcommittee will continue to broaden my knowledge of the state budget,” added Rep. Hatchett.

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.
