ATLANTA – State Representative Amy Carter (R-Valdosta) has been selected by the Council of State Governments (CSG) as one of 48 members of the 2015 class of Henry Toll Fellows.
The Toll Fellowship Program is a national leadership development program for state government officials.
“I am honored to have been selected to participate in the Henry Toll Fellowship program this year,” said Rep. Carter. “I look forward to this learning experience and the opportunity to exchange ideas with my state government counterparts from across the country. My goal is to return to the State Capitol in January with an enhanced set of leadership skills.”
According to CSG Executive Director and CEO David Adkins, Rep. Carter’s selection is a result of her proven success and demonstrated potential as a public servant.
Each year, Toll Fellows brings 48 of the nation’s top officials from all three branches of state government to Lexington, Kentucky for an intensive six-day, five-night “intellectual boot camp.” Rep. Carter and Rep. Valencia Stovall (D-Lake City) are the only two Georgia members of this year’s class, which will meet Aug. 28 through Sept. 2. The first Georgian was selected to the program in 1988 with only 16 Georgians being selected through 2014.
The program’s agenda includes a lineup of speakers and sessions designed to stimulate personal assessment and growth, while providing networking and relationship-building opportunities. While each year’s program is unique, previous programs have included sessions on leadership personality assessment, media training, crisis management, appreciative inquiry, adaptive leadership and much more.

Representative Amy Carter represents the citizens of District 175, which includes portions of Brooks, Lowndes, and Thomas counties. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 2006 and is currently the Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government. She also serves on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Education, Higher Education, Governmental Affairs, and the Small Business Development committees.
