Rep. Chuck Williams Named Vice Chairman of House Appropriations Sub-Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Chuck Williams (R-Watkinsville) as the Vice Chairman of the House Appropriations Sub-Committee on Higher Education. Rep. Williams currently serves as a member of the House Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Information & Audits, and Natural Resources & Environment committees, and as the Vice Chairman on the Higher Education Committee.

“I would like to thank Speaker Ralston and the Committee on Assignments for entrusting me with this appointment,” said Rep. Williams. “With a number of public, post-secondary institutions in our area, including Athens Technical College, the University of Georgia, and the University of North Georgia, I am pleased to assume a greater role in the budget-writing process for higher education.”

The House Appropriations Committee, chaired by Rep. Terry England (R-Auburn), is tasked with writing the legislation for the state’s fiscal year budget.

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Chuck Williams represents the citizens of District 119, which includes portions of Clarke and Oconee counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2011, and currently serves as the Vice Chairman on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education and Higher Education committees. He also serves on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Information & Audits, and Natural Resources & Environment committees.
