Rep. Chad Nimmer Named Vice Chairman of House Appropriations Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments has named State Representative Chad Nimmer (R-Blackshear) as the Vice Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. Rep. Nimmer currently serves as a member of the House Game, Fish, & Parks, Natural Resources & Environment, and Transportation committees, and as the Vice Chairman of the House Industry & Labor Committee.

“It is a privilege to be appointed Vice Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, and I appreciate the confidence Speaker Ralston and the Committee on Assignments have shown in me with this appointment,” said Rep. Nimmer. “Chairman England has responsibly guided the crafting of our state budget through tough economic times, and as the economy continues to improve, I look forward to working with he and my fellow committee members as we continue to exercise sound fiscal judgment and invest in our state to keep it moving forward.”

The House Appropriations Committee, chaired by Rep. Terry England (R-Auburn), is tasked with writing the legislation for the state’s fiscal year budget.  “I am looking forward to working with Chad in his new role.  He is one of the brightest stars in the Georgia House.  Chad has good business sense and will be an asset to me and to our committee as we craft the budget for our great state,” said Chairman England.

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Chad Nimmer represents the citizens of District 178, which includes portions of Appling, Brantley, Pierce, and Wayne counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2011, and is currently serving as the Vice Chairman on the Appropriations and Industry & Labor Committees. He also serves as a member on the Game, Fish & Parks, Natural Resources & Environment and Transportation committees.
