Rep. Jason Spencer to Join Director Ken Carpenter, Sen. William Ligon for Film Screenings of “One Generation Away”

ATLANTA —State Representative Jason Spencer (R-Woodbine) will join State Senator William Ligon (R-Brunswick) along with director Ken Carpenter for two screenings of his film “One Generation Away.”

“I am looking forward to seeing the film and meeting Director Ken Carpenter,” stated Rep. Spencer. “His film comes at the most opportune time. The Georgia House of Representatives needs to pass the Religious Freedom Restoration Act this next session. This film could be the catalyst to help get that legislation over the finish line.”

“One Generation Away” is a joint production between Echolight Studios and American Family Studios. Exploring the religious freedom debate, “One Generation Away” focuses on seven cases of religious freedom disputes throughout the United States: the Mt. Soledad Veteran’s Memorial in San Diego, wedding service providers in Oregon and Washington, Hobby Lobby, chaplaincy in the military, as well as two education cases with a collegiate counseling program, and high school cheerleaders in Kountze, Texas.

The first screening will take place at Central Baptist Church of Waycross on Tuesday, August 4th beginning at 6:30pm. The second screening will take place at Westside Baptist Church of St. Marys on Wednesday, August 5th beginning at 7pm. Each event will present the film, followed by a question and answer session with Ken Carpenter, Sen. Ligon, and Rep. Spencer.

For more information about these events, contact the Central Baptist Church office at 912-283-2646 and the Westside Baptist Church office at 912-882-4904.

Representative Jason Spencer represents the citizens of District 180, which includes Camden, Charlton, and Ware counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2010, and currently serves as the Secretary of the Special Rules Committee. He also serves on the Game Fish & Parks, Human Relations & Aging, Science and Technology, and Juvenile Justice committees.
