ATLANTA – State Representative Sharon Beasley-Teague (D-Red Oak) has been chosen by the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL) as a recipient of their 2015 Elected Women of Excellence Award.
“I am humbled and grateful for this award, and would like to thank my colleagues at NFWL for such an honor,” said Rep. Beasley-Teague. “Women have made great strides in the public sphere, and it is only through organizations such as NFWL that these advancements are possible. I look forward to meeting with women elected from all over the country in a few weeks to discuss sound policy and best practices for our states.”
The Elected Women of Excellence Awards were established in 2013 as part of the NFWL’s 75th Anniversary Celebration and are presented at the annual conference. Rep. Beasley-Teague will be presented with her award at this year’s annual conference which will be held September 11th-15th in Oklahoma City.
The National Foundation for Women Legislators was founded in 1938, making it the oldest organization for elected women at the federal, state, and local levels in the country. Their mission is to provide strategic resources to the over 5000 elected women leaders in the country for leadership development and effective governance through conferences, seminars, educational materials, professional and personal relationships, and networking.

Representative Sharon Beasley-Teague represents the citizens of District 65, which includes portions of Fulton and Douglas counties. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 1992, and currently serves on the Games, Fish, & Parks, Human Relations & Aging, Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment, and Ways & Means committees.
