Rep. Spencer Encourages Constituents to Attend Study Committee Meeting on Annexation, Deannexation, and Incorporation

ATLANTA – State Representative Jason Spencer (R-Woodbine) encourages constituents to attend the first meeting of the House Study Committee on Annexation, Deannexation, and Incorporation.

“The Georgia House of Representatives will be reviewing how properties are annexed and deannexed in Georgia through the work of this study committee,” said Rep. Spencer. “In response to many complex and controversial issues surrounding annexation and deannexation, like the situation with Pierce County and the City of Waycross, I encourage the citizens of affected communities who are interested in this process to attend these meetings and make public comments. Sharing your experiences will help the study committee, and ultimately, the General Assembly, to make better public policy regarding this issue.”

The first meeting of the House Study Committee on Annexation, Deannexation, and Incorporation will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 10 a.m. in Room 406 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building in Atlanta. The second meeting is scheduled for September 24, 2015, and the third meeting will be October 6, 2015. Each meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in Room 406 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building.

Chaired by Rep. Jan Tankersley (R-Brooklet), the House Study Committee on Annexation, Deannexation, and Incorporation was established by House Resolution 743 to review current annexation, deannexation, and incorporation laws and procedures and to ensure that the process is clear, open, equitable, and in the best interest of the citizens of Georgia.
