ATLANTA – Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) named State Representative Marie Robinson-Metze (D-Atlanta) to the Economic Development & Tourism, Interstate Cooperation and Special Rules committees.

“I am sincerely honored and grateful to be appointed to three very important committees,” said Rep. Metze.  “I would like to thank Speaker Ralston for entrusting me with these assignments and for placing me in a position to better serve district 55 and the entire state of Georgia.”

The Economic Development & Tourism Committee is responsible for economic development, business, trade, and any proposed measures that will affect the presence of tourism throughout the state.

The Interstate Cooperation Committee serves to encourage and assist the legislative, executive, administrative and judicial officials and employees of this State to develop and maintain friendly contact by correspondence, by conference and otherwise with officials and employees of the other states, of the federal government and of local units of government.

The Special Rules Committee reviews bills and resolutions concerning official state objects or issues that fall outside the subject-matter areas overseen by other standing committees.  As a result, the members of this committee see legislation on a wide variety of issues.
