More than 300 Job Seekers Attend Rep. Valencia Stovall’s 3rd Annual Career and Job Fair

ATLANTA— State Representative Valencia Stovall (D-Lake City) recently hosted the 3rd Annual Career and Job Fair, which brought 40 employers and more than 300 job seekers together on Thursday, September 17 at Paradise Gymnasium & Cultural Center in Forest Park.

“This was the largest number of attendees we have had at this event in the past three years,” said Rep. Stovall.  “It was humbling to provide individuals with an opportunity to explore the job market and increase their income levels, while also providing employers with access to a variety of applicants in one place. Since this event has been such a huge success, we are exploring future possibilities of hosting a Teen Summer Job Fair and a job fair for individuals with developmental disabilities.”

The annual career and job fair consisted of informational booths and onsite interviews. Rep. Stovall also provided attendees with a legislative update about the elimination of the statewide

graduation test, the importance of voting, and encouraged attendees to obtain additional job training if needed. The event sponsors included Paradise Community Development Corporation, Sisters In Action, Inc., and Hearts For Families. The Georgia Department of Labor and the Clayton County Resource Center provided employer support.

Representative Valencia Stovall represents the citizens of District 74, which includes portions of Clayton County. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 2012, and currently serves on the Code Revision, Education, Interstate Cooperation, and Small Business Development committees.
