“The campaign to prevent an avian flu outbreak is an extremely important initiative, and I am honored to partner with Commissioner Black and the Department of Agriculture to bring increased awareness to this issue,” said Rep. Marin. “Georgia’s poultry industry has a significant impact on our state and local economies, and we must take all necessary precautions to ensure the safeguard of our state’s poultry.”

Poultry produces an economic impact of $28 billion annually and employs more than 100,000 people in Georgia. As the nation’s leading poultry-producing state, the Georgia Department of Agriculture has implemented a multi-lingual prevention campaign in response to the growing threat of avian flu. The campaign is an arrangement of biosecurity information presented through a website, FAQs, and brochures available in English, Hindi, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
