Morgan County to Receive Grant Funding For Local Schools and State Park

ATLANTA – State Representative Dave Belton (R-Buckhead) today announced the award of two new grants for Morgan County. The grants have a combined total of over $1 million and will provide additional funding for the Morgan County charter school system and the Hard Labor Creek State Park project.

“I am happy to announce that these grants were awarded to Morgan County,” said Rep. Belton. “Each will have a meaningful impact on the daily lives of our students, teachers, and citizens, and I look forward to the innovative ideas and construction that will be made possibly through these funds.”

The Governor’s Office of Student Achievement awarded Morgan County Charter School System as one of the Innovation Fund Implementation Grant award winners for the fiscal year 2016. Morgan County Charter School System will receive $621,655 for STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) N-RG (network-resources for Georgia) project-based learning, which will go towards teacher professional learning and classroom resources for students.

Additionally, the Hard Labor Creek State Park project in Morgan County was selected by the National Park Service to receive a Federal Land and Water Conservation grant. Morgan County will receive $695,000 in federal funds for the estimated $1.4 million project.
