Speaker David Ralston Appoints Representative Buddy Harden as Chairman of the Joint Agriculture Exposition Authority Overview Committee

ATLANTA — Speaker of the House David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) has appointed Representative Buddy Harden (R-Cordele) as Chairman of the Joint Agriculture Exposition Authority Overview Committee.

“I am confident Rep. Harden will ably lead the Overview Committee as they protect and support the tremendous resource that is the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter,” said Speaker of the House David Ralston. “Buddy is a respected member of the General Assembly, and I know I can rely on him to fulfill this important role.”

“I appreciate the Speaker’s trust and the opportunity to serve as Chairman of the Overview Committee,” said Representative Harden. “I look forward to serving in this position to work with the Exposition Authority and the Overview Committee to ensure the continued success of the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter.”

The Joint Agriculture Exposition Authority Overview Committee is a joint committee of the General Assembly and is comprised of five representatives and five senators. The committee advises the General Assembly on the compliance of the Georgia Agricultural Exposition Authority with its governing directives.

The Georgia Agricultural Exposition Authority operates the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter, a state-owned 1,100 acre, multipurpose rental complex designed for meetings, conferences, and trade shows among other events. It is also home to the official, state-sponsored Georgia National Fair.

Representative Buddy Harden represents the citizens of District 148, which includes Crisp, Pulaski, and Wilcox counties, and portions of Houston County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2008, and he currently serves as Vice Chairman on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs and the Natural Resources & Environment committees, and Secretary on the Small Business Development committees. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Human Resources and the Banks & Banking, and Health & Human Services committees.
