Rep. Waites Issues Public Service Announcements on Domestic Violence

ATLANTA – State Representative Keisha Waites (D-Atlanta) recently released a series of public service announcements regarding domestic violence statewide.  These videos are part of a continued effort by Rep. Waites to draw increased awareness to the issue of domestic violence in Georgia.

“Domestic violence is a problem that affects so many of our families and homes, and we must all understand and identify our roles and responsibilities in stopping this tragedy from happening across our great state,” said Rep. Waites. “October is National Domestic Violence Awareness month, and during this month, I am committed to forging an America where no one suffers the hurt and hardship that domestic violence can cause, and where we recommit to doing everything in our power to uphold the basic human right of freedom from violence and abuse. This issue impacts women, men, and children of every age, background, and belief.  Nearly 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men in the United States have suffered severe physical violence by an intimate partner. Victims are deprived of their autonomy, liberty, and security, while also facing tremendous threats to their health and safety.  For this reason, I call on all Georgians to speak out against domestic violence and support local efforts to assist victims of these crimes to find the help and healing they need. Please join me in airing the linked PSA videos to your audiences to help create awareness for the issue of domestic violence.”

Representative Waites will also be available to visit radio and television stations to record the PSA live throughout the month of October.
