ATLANTA — State Representative John Corbett (R-Lake Park) encourages Camden County residents to attend the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Office of Commercial Space Transportation public scoping meeting for the proposed Spaceport Camden project on Monday, December 7.
“I want to personally voice my support for this project, and request the support of my constituents at the FAA public scoping meeting on Monday,” said Rep. Corbett. “Spaceport Camden would have a substantial economic impact on Camden County, and the entire state, by creating high-tech jobs and making Georgia a space destination. This is an opportunity we simply cannot pass-up.”
The meeting will take place on Monday, December 7, 2015 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Camden County Public Services Authority Recreation Center in Kingsland. The format will include an open-house workshop from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m., during which citizens can submit written comments on provided forms, or via stenographer. The FAA will provide an overview of the environmental process from 6 p.m. – 6:15 p.m., followed by a public comment period from 6:15 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. During the public comment period, members of the public may provide up to a 2-minute statement. The FAA will transcribe oral comments.
The FAA is preparing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Camden County Board of Commissioners’ proposal to construct and operate Spaceport Camden, a commercial space launch site. The proposed launch site is located in an unincorporated area of Woodbine, in Camden County, Georgia.
