ATLANTA – State Representative Sandra Scott (D-Rex) recently pre-filed legislation to honor female military personnel. House Bill 717 would create special and distinctive license plates to recognize women veterans in Georgia.
“As the only female veteran in the Georgia General Assembly, I am honored to sponsor HB 717,” said Rep. Scott. “There are 10 states that currently honor female veterans with a license plate, and I would like to see Georgia join that list. We have 91,830 female veterans in this state, and this small gesture is a way our state can recognize, honor and, most importantly, thank them for their service.”
HB 717 would create distinct license plates for any former female member of the armed forces of the United States. Under current state law, individuals are eligible for military tags if they are a veteran, have received a military medal award or have served during active military combat. The tag options include more than 150 options for the five branches of service, conflicts, and honors.
