ATLANTA – State Representative Lynn Smith (R-Newnan) was recently named one of the Most Influential Georgians of 2016 by Georgia Trend Magazine. The January 2016 edition of the magazine marked the sixth consecutive year Rep. Smith has been named to this list.

“I am truly honored to be selected by Georgia Trend as one of their 2016 100 Most Influential Georgians,” said Rep. Smith.  “The individuals on this list are a testament to the talent and dedication to excellence in our state, and I am humbled to share this honor with them.”

Georgia Trend recognized Rep. Smith’s work in implementing the Legislative Environmental Policy Academy at the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government, citing, “The academy worked to help members of the House Natural Resources and the Environment Committee, which Smith chairs, strengthen their understanding of complex environmental issues ahead of last year’s session.”

The selection process for the year’s most influential individuals is a year-round process for the editorial staff at Georgia Trend Magazine. Individuals are selected exclusively by the Georgia Trend editorial staff based on the staff’s knowledge and observations of the state’s power structure.
