Rep. Stovall Appointed Vice Chairman of Education Subcommittee

ATLANTA — State Representative Valencia Stovall (D-Lake City) was recently appointed by House Education Committee Chairman Brooks Coleman (R-Duluth) as the Vice Chairman of the House Education Subcommittee on Academic Support.  

“It is an honor to be selected for a leadership position within the House Education Committee,” said Rep. Stovall. “It speaks volumes to my work to improve the educational opportunities for our children across this great state, and in this position, I will continue the fight to advance education for all of Georgia’s students.”

The House Education Committee is responsible for all legislation dealing with Pre-K and K-12 education in Georgia. The Education Subcommittee on Academic Support, chaired by Rep. Randy Nix (R-LaGrange), is one of three Education subcommittees, in addition to those on Academic Achievement & Curriculum and Academic Innovations.

Representative Valencia Stovall represents the citizens of District 74, which includes portions of Clayton County. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 2012, and currently serves on the Code Revision, Education, Interstate Cooperation, and Small Business Development committees.
