Rep. Robert Dickey Applauds Georgia DNR for Funding Local Recreation Facility

ATLANTA – State Representative Robert Dickey (R-Musella) today announced that the Crawford County Recreational Fields will receive $50,000 in grant funding from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources through the Federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).

“This is wonderful news for Crawford County and will greatly enhance our recreational complex,” said Rep. Dickey. “I appreciate the hard work of our commissioners, Director Doug Kelly, and the recreation board volunteers over the past several years to make much needed improvements to our facility. These continued improvements have made our recreational complex a safe, community gathering place for our young players and their fans, and I want to thank Commissioner Mark Williams and the Department of Natural Resources for their generous contribution to help improve our facility and Crawford County.”

The LWCF is a federally funded-state administered grant program that has been in existence since 1965. The LWCF grants assist cities, counties, state and federal agencies and recreation commissions and authorities in acquiring, developing and renovating outdoor recreation lands and facilities.

“DNR is excited to award this grant money for the Crawford County Recreational Fields facility improvements project,” said DNR Commissioner, Mark Williams. “We hope you will help us in congratulating Crawford County for their efforts to provide quality recreational experiences for the citizens of Georgia.”

Representative Robert Dickey represents the citizens of District 140, which includes all of Crawford County, and portions of Bibb, Houston, Monroe and Peach counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2010, and currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government and Secretary on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs Committee.
