Rep. Penny Houston Elected Vice Chair of SLC Fiscal Affairs and Government Operations Committee

ATLANTA – State Representative Penny Houston (R-Nashville) was recently elected Vice Chairman of the Fiscal Affairs and Government Operations (FAGO) Committee of the Council of State Governments’ Southern Legislative Conference (SLC). The FAGO Committee is one of six SLC standing committees and focuses on the myriad of issues impacting state budgets and finance.

“I am honored to be elected Vice Chair of such a prestigious committee of the Southern Legislative Conference,” said Rep. Houston.  “Each state faces unique challenges and experiences during the appropriations process, and working and exchanging ideas with my southern colleagues will serve as the ultimate learning tool. I hope to share some of these ideas and perspectives with my colleagues on the House Appropriations Committee.”

As a part of its mission to encourage cooperation and the sharing of information and best practices among its 15 member states, the SLC met in Lexington, Kentucky for its 70th annual meeting. The meeting brought together over 1,200 legislators, legislative staff and guests from across the South.
