ATLANTA — State Representative Valerie Clark (R-Lawrenceville) recently received the LeadingAge Georgia Legislative Leadership Award for her advocacy, contributions and legislative leadership on behalf of Georgia’s elderly population.
“I am extremely humbled and honored to receive this award from LeadingAge Georgia,” said Rep. Clark. “As a legislator, and particularly as a member of the House Human Relations and Aging Committee, my top priority is creating public policy that provides a better quality of life for Georgians, including our growing aging population. Our citizens are living longer than ever before, and we must ensure that the aging population continues to receive the best, quality care that we can provide.”
The LeadingAge Georgia Legislative Leadership Award recognizes the achievements of individuals who have made outstanding contributions toward the welfare of older persons in areas such as research, education, communication, public policy, or excellence in leadership or governance accountability for member organizations. The annual award honors those who spend a significant period of time meeting the needs of or serving the aging community or an organization that serves the aging.
LeadingAge Georgia chose to honor Rep. Clark for her persistent and successful activism on behalf of older Georgians. During her time as a member of the General Assembly, Rep. Clark has sponsored and co-sponsored several pieces of legislation aimed at improving the lives of Georgia’s senior citizens, including her recent work as the Chair of the House Study Committee on Adult Day Services, which resulted in legislation to assist the state’s adult day health centers.
LeadingAge Georgia is a statewide association that represents non-profit organizations dedicated to providing quality housing, health care and other aging services to older Georgians. LeadingAge Georgia is the state partner of LeadingAge, an association dedicated to advancing policies, promoting services and conducting research that allows individuals to live fully as they age.

Representative Valerie Clark represents the citizens of District 101, which includes portions of Gwinnett County. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 2010, and currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Transportation Committee and the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education. She also serves on the Education, Health & Human Services, and Human Relations & Aging committees.
