Rep. Erica Thomas Named 30 Under 30 Finalist

ATLANTA – State Representative Erica Thomas (D-Austell) was named a 2016 Nonprofit Leader 30 Under 30 Awards finalist by the Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN) and the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) Atlanta on Tuesday, November 1, 2016.

“It is an honor to be named a 30 Under 30 finalist alongside such remarkable contenders,” said Rep. Thomas. “The nominees for this awards program reflect Georgia’s commitment to service, and I am truly humbled to be recognized together with them by GNC and YNPN Atlanta. Philanthropy and advocacy are my greatest passions, and I look forward to continuing my work in Georgia’s nonprofit sector.”

The 30 Under 30 Awards program recognizes young nonprofit professionals making a significant, positive impact on their communities through meaningful service and dedicated leadership. Nominations for the awards were submitted from across the state of Georgia.

“At GCN, we know that the future of our sector depends on the efforts of extraordinary young leaders,” said Karen Beavor, president and CEO of the Georgia Center for Nonprofits, in a recent press release. “That’s why we’re dedicated to supporting their growth, building their networks and celebrating their contributions – all of which come together in initiatives like 30 Under 30.”

All 30 Under 30 finalists will be recognized at an awards reception in January 2017 at Junior Achievement’s Chick-fil-A Discovery Center. The finalists will also participate in a professional development event hosted by GCN and YNPN Atlanta.

“With limited budgets, many nonprofits struggle to provide young staff with opportunities for recognition and professional development,” said Lauren Jeong, board chair of YNPN Atlanta, in a recent press release. “The 30 Under 30 Awards spotlight rising nonprofit professionals and the contributions they have made to their organizations and communities while providing this outstanding group with exclusive professional development experiences.”
