Rep. Sandra Scott Appointed as Member of National Foundation of Women Legislators Board of Directors

ATLANTA – State Representative Sandra Scott (D-Rex) was recently appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of the National Foundation of Women Legislators (NFWL).

“Those that aspire to change the world are the same that are willing to change themselves for the betterment of their community and the future of our country,” said Rep. Scott.sscott-nfwl-board-of-directors

Scott was elected by her peers at the 2016 NFWL Annual Conference in Orlando, FL, where over 115 elected women met to identify effective solutions to some of the nation’s most timely and pressing issues. Providing a non-partisan environment that encourages dialogue and the sharing of information and experiences, women leaders were able to build coalitions, share the concerns of their constituents, and identify out-of-the-box solutions to issues facing their communities today.

“We are so grateful for Representative Scott’s service to this organization,” stated Delaware Representative Helene Keeley, NFWL’s 2016 Chair. “We look forward to working with her to make 2017 NFWL’s best year yet.”

Rep. Scott will begin serving in her new position on January 1, and will hold this office through 2017. NFWL will host its 2017 Annual Conference next November 14-18 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Rep. Scott has been an active member of the NFWL since 2011, and was named NFWL Legislator of the Year in the 2013.

NFWL’s purpose and mission is to provide strategic resources to elected women leaders for leadership development and effective governance through conferences, seminars, educational materials, professional and personal relationships and networking.  The NFWL promotes a spirit of helpfulness among current and former women state legislators and elected women, encourages the election and appointment of women to public office, promotes interstate relations and provides an exchange of legislative ideas and legislation among members.
