Rep. Johnnie Caldwell Named Chairman of House Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Johnnie Caldwell (R-Thomaston) as the Chairman of the House Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment Committee.  Rep. Caldwell will also serve as a member on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety and the Banks & Banking, Insurance, Judiciary, Motor Vehicles and Rules committees.

“I am honored that the Speaker and House leadership have the trust and confidence in me to allow me to chair this important committee,” said Rep. Caldwell.  “I look forward to serving in this capacity and ensuring that the citizens of Georgia believe that legislative and congressional reapportionment is done in a fair and impartial way.”

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

 Representative Johnnie Caldwell Jr. represents the citizens of District 131, which includes portions of Lamar, Pike, and Upson counties. He was first elected into the House of Representatives in 2012 and is currently serving as the Chairman of the Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety and the Banks & Banking, Insurance, Judiciary, Motor Vehicles and Rules committees.
