Rep. Lee Hawkins Files Resolution Honoring Officer Henry Tillman Davis

ATLANTA – State Representative Lee Hawkins (R-Gainesville) recently filed House Resolution 171, legislation honoring the life of Officer Henry Tillman Davis and would dedicate an intersection in his memory.

“It is my privilege to recognize the life of a true hero, veteran and public servant, Officer Henry Tillman Davis, with this resolution dedicating an intersection in his honor,” said Rep. Hawkins. “We know his life was tragically cut short, but I hope this will help his memory live on in our community for many years to come.”

HR 171 would honor the memory of Officer Henry Tillman Davis by dedicating the intersection of Beechwood Blvd., NW and SR19 53/Dawsonville Highway in Hall County as the Officer Henry Tillman Davis Memorial Intersection. Officer Davis served in the United States Army as a military policeman from 1963 to 1966, and Officer Davis began his career with the Gainesville Police Department in 1969. Officer Davis lost his life in 1972 after his patrol vehicle was struck from behind and forced into oncoming traffic while traveling on Dawsonville Highway in Gainesville.
