Rep. Scot Turner Recognizes Holly Springs Mayor and Police Chief at State Capitol

ATLANTA – State Representative Scot Turner (R-Holly Springs) today led the Georgia House of Representatives in recognizing and honoring retiring Holly Springs Mayor Tim Downing and retiring Holly Springs Police Chief Ken Ball on their retirements and years of service to their communities. Mayor Downing and Chief Ball were commended on the House floor with House Resolutions 78 and 91.

“The City of Holly Springs has greatly benefitted from the leadership and significant accomplishments of both Mayor Tim Downing and Police Chief Ken Ball over the last several years,” said Rep. Turner. “Mayor Downing and Chief Ball have selflessly committed their time to serve the needs of the citizens of Holly Springs, and there is no doubt that our community is a better place as a result of their dedication to the city and its people. I was pleased and humbled to have the opportunity to thank Mayor Downing and Chief Ball for their service before my colleagues in the House and present each of them with a House Resolution in their honor.”

Mayor Downing has served as Mayor of Holly Springs for 14 years and is praised for obtaining funds for numerous street projects, working with engineers to design and plan intersection improvements throughout the county, completing the construction of J.B. Owens Park, as well as establishing several community events. Mayor Downing also founded the Great American Cleanup, Community Job Fair, and Rivers Alive in Holly Springs.

Chief Ball has served as Chief of Police for the City of Holly Springs, Georgia for the last 12 years. During this time, he has established key programs within Holly Springs, including NARCAN, a K-9 unit, and the Holly Springs Citizens Police Department. Under Chief Ball’s leadership, the city was recognized as the Safest City in the State of Georgia in 2014.
