Rep. Taylor Names MARTOC Subcommittee Chairs

ATLANTA – State Representative Tom Taylor (R-Dunwoody), Chairman of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Overview Committee (MARTOC), today appointed the following members as MARTOC subcommittee chairs:

• Rep. Beth Beskin (R-Atlanta) will chair the Governance Subcommittee;
• Rep. Mike Glanton (D-Jonesboro) will chair the Information Technology and Infrastructure Subcommittee;
• Rep. Meagan Hanson (R-Brookhaven), who was recently appointed to MARTOC by Gov. Nathan Deal, will chair the Public Safety Subcommittee.

“I am very glad to appoint Reps. Beskin, Glanton and Hanson to MARTOC’s critical subcommittees as the State of Georgia looks to move forward on a major public transit initiative this year,” said Rep. Taylor. “MARTA is the backbone of transit in Metro Atlanta and will clearly be a core component of any solution as we move forward on this measure. These subcommittee chairs are very capable individuals who will play a major role in transit in our state.”

MARTOC is a statutory committee with oversight of the MARTA budget. As a joint committee with the House and Senate, MARTOC does not handle legislation nor do the members have a vote on the MARTA Board of Directors.
